Hamlet is a very complex and intricate play. Shakespeares main character, Hamlet, is composed of many finite layers that make up his irate character. Hamlets unordinary characteristics could be explained by many things such as his father recently passing. Losing a family member (King Hamlet) is difficult for most and since everyone is different, these situations are all handled differently. Shakespeare created Hamlets character with madness in mind to bring drama and confusion into his play. In act I we are introduced to King Hamlets ghost in a scene with Hamlet, Mercellus and Horatio. During this scene Hamlet tells his two friends 'How strange or odd soe'er I bear myself… to put an antic disposition on' (Act II, Scene 5), in saying this he's telling his friends not to be alarmed as he is going to act insane. Hamlets character is overwhelmingly complex. I can relate to Hamlet in the sense that we are both hesitant. I myself would have done the same thing if I were in his position with the ghost. I often find myself questioning others and myself to make sure I have made the right decision. There is nothing else I can relate to Hamlet with at this point in time.
